    The state of Post-OSR content

I'll avoid off-topic discussions on this forum except for this: you are not crazy and don't let anyone convince you that you are.

    AKCS II Kickstarter

He's happy that he can continue working as a game designer, if the Kickstarter did poorly he couldn't justify the work he puts it. To quote the man directly:

If you want to get the rules without sponsoring the art you can back Autarch's patreon to download the latest drafts (rules are basically complete but editing not, monster manual and GM book are mostly complete but even further back in editing).

Yeah I'm not a fan of Syrigos' style either (though the cover for Sepulchre of the Sorceress-Queen is cool, wierd foot notwithstanding).

    AKCS II Kickstarter

The Kickstarter is live! The early bird special goes on for another 30 hours or so ($25 discount when getting all the printed books). The backers will also be beta readers for the Conan supplement (Archon signed a licensing deal with Chuck Dixon who wrote some of the latter Conan books and comics).

    How do you actually Planescape?

I friend who ran a long and complete 5e campaign plans to run his next campaign in Planescape. He as more of a story gaming bent, but asked me advice on how to make Planescape feel different and how to include the types of "success, but" or "failure, but" mechanics he likes from games like Star...

    AKCS II Kickstarter

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/autarch/adventurer-conqueror-king-system-imperial-imprint-acks-ii It's a proper second edition of the best and most complete version of D&D. Early backers get a better deal for the physical books. As a patreon (well, really locals) supporter I've been...

    Poisons

Poison is almost always better applied to missiles, one dose is enough for a blade or 20 arrows.

    Poisons

ACKS has a list of poisons with onset time, effect, cost (based on Poison potion cost which is basically "perfect poison") and rules for blades/projectiles. Drawback is on natural 1 when you attack you've nicked yourself handling the weapon and been exposed. Also herbal poisons to put in food or...

The Vault: Rare and unusal stuff for the taking

Musket Rest A tall wooden fork, ornate with lambs and meadow flowers, used to stabilize the aim of a musket. A musket rested in the fork quickly falls asleep, light snoring is heard from the barrel. It may be fired as normal. If a sleeping musket is startled by a sudden noise or an unfamiliar...

    Why Assassins are awesome!!!

The thief levels faster and has all the other thief skills beyond Hide in Shadows and Move Silently. The thief is the dungeon specialist, and has a much wider list of available downtime hijinks.

Criteria: Evocative-Terse continuum vs. Rorschach for the referee

My original campaign I went totally ham with house rules and only allowed Fighter, Thief, and Mage (and later Barber-Surgeon when the players complained about the lack of healing available). In my second campaign I have 10 classes available: Fighter, Explorer (ranger-ish), Thief, Mage (2...

    Why Assassins are awesome!!!

ACKS doesn't have an assassination table, but the assassination hijink accomplishes something similar. Assassin (and the elven assassin/mage nightblade class) may spend their downtime doing wetwork for money being able to off an NPC with a successful Hide in Shadows throw (various bonuses and...

    Why Assassins are awesome!!!

ACKS (revised) assassin works great, it fights like a fighter (HD inbetween thief and fighter), sneaks and backstabs like a thief. Big difference is it has both the backstab of the thief, the weapons of the fighter, and the damage bonus on the fighter so even if setting up a backstab is...

The Vault: Rare and unusal stuff for the taking

Winged Helmet A strong steel helmet with a pointy peak and fierce nose guard. A pair of gray wings, warm with life, spread menacingly when swords are drawn. In battle they beat ferociously and the helmet flies off leaving the wearer exposed (-1 AC).
