Hey everyone...long time reader, first time poster/commenter
I'm currently running an Into the Odd campaign, using one of Bryce's "Best of the New Old School" adventures, Tomb of the Iron God (I'm also using Fever Swamp and the Iron Coral starting adventure in ItO.)
Into the Odd has players level up when they complete expeditions - essentially, returning to a town after an adventure. The nearest explored towns are far away, and I'd like to include a closer one so they aren't trekking through wilderness they've already been to, which isn't very interesting to me as a DM.
Any recommendations for good towns within a module, adventure etc. I suppose the ideal town would have places to resupply, interesting NPCs and have at least one adventure hook, but not be something that absolutely demanded they abandon their current adventure and address it So, for example, while Scenic Dunnsmouth would be fun to run, it would probably not be well-suited for this purpose.
Thanks for you suggestions in advance. If you're interested, I've been writing up session reports and will post them here.
