    General Discussion

I have a weakness for making wilderness maps. I use to many symbols....less is more, but my brain can't do it well, so I tend to make smaller areas, but then the scale may not make as much sense? Although...It may also not be me as Jon and I work together a lot and if its one we work on...

    General Discussion

Thanks Beoric! I just stumbled upon a video about 'how long should an adventure be?' The dude, Matthew Colville? was saying that adventures should be short, and not the big ones....and that he was surprised that most people on his twitch were just used to adventures being the big, hard bound...

    So Much Bad Design...

Rumor/gossip table in my opinion is one of the most important things in a city or town to make it come alive.

    So Much Bad Design...

I started to do that...read over all the old modules I had. I started to read A1 Slave Pits of the Undercity. I remembered it as a young player with fondness....but I read it and thought it was crap. There was stuff that just didn't make sense or missed opportunities for better design. My...

    My "Megadungeon"

Bah...I think he said he was working on Lake of Fire or something awhile back... But the adventure I meant, which you probably have already is: The Lost Treasure of Atlantis - North Wind Adventures | DriveThruRPG

    My "Megadungeon"

ya...I think for me it's: 10% ripped off material--I stopped buying materials for the most part so I don't steal off people--which I wonder if that hurts me as I dont get inspiration from others either. Chainsaw wrote a dungeon, Lake of Fire I think, and I bought that and was floored because I...

5e - why you think it sucks, and why you're wrong

No, not at all!! It's different here and none of my comments come from my experience on this forum, because we are discussing things instead of automatically labeling/judging. Ive always felt this place could be used as a platform where we may not agree with each other, and that's ok! Because...

5e - why you think it sucks, and why you're wrong

That makes sense. I think there is also stability--what I mean by that, is Ive been playing with the same group for 20+ years. We have a few players switch out once in awhile, but its pretty stable and diverse. We are in a bubble I guess, where we just don't really experience all the 'problems'...

5e - why you think it sucks, and why you're wrong

yeah...I've just never associated monsters with different races of people. It's super bizarre to me that it has even come up. In comparison, it's like me saying the monopoly pieces symbolize different races of people and is racist. Does that make you scratch your head? because that's how I feel...

5e - why you think it sucks, and why you're wrong

That's because animals are neutral....sorry, couldn't help it. No, I agree with you, evil doesn't have to be attack on sight all the time (that is akin to Chaotic Stupid). Ya...constraints on good guys....that's why its VERY difficult and challenging to play a paladin, despite their powers. I...

5e - why you think it sucks, and why you're wrong

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I can be very well wrong as I don't dig and study as much as all of you into this stuff. But there has always been a debate between a Railroad and Sandbox type style play....right? Me personally, I'm in favor of Sandbox play. Others can play however they want, as it...

    The state of Post-OSR content

I have conquered Patagonia...about 70 miles hiked. The videos are in production (my friend adds music, etc.). I don't talk about D&D much in Season 2 though, and I think it may be a little more boring than the PCT, but it is absolutely gorgeous in Patagonia. Should be coming out in the next few...

    The state of Post-OSR content

Yeah.....heh...that's why it's taking forever to wrap up Vermilion and Coppercore. Playtesting....it's amazing how one little word or phrase or title and suddenly the PCs want to go check it out, which then expands the sandbox--but I kind of liked that because it helped me tie in these new areas...

This sums it up for me too (I didnt watch the video, but agree with Squeen's words). I got burnout as a DM when I was trying to do some sort of story---way back in highschool/college days--same as @The1True stated. But now adays, I don't get much burnout. I may have some sort of 'railroad' quest...

    Why Assassins are awesome!!!

I dont know man...I really like 'working for it'. By the time we reach 7th or 8th level (usually takes about a year of playing for us), we usually start over and do something else. But crappy stats? well thats what makes magic items worth finding and using. How many tiimes have you kept those...
