So, to clarify, express references to incel culture, and homophobic slurs, are
not political statements, but indirect references to media personalities which riff off of said comments on incel culture and homophobic slurs (I couldn't even identify who
@The Heretic was talking about, it could have been someone in the OSR for all I know)
are political statements? Because if that's the case, as a parent with a kid who has been targeted by incel misogyny, and another kid who is LGBTQ+, there are lots of things I could say, and I am confused where the line is.
I think Pepe is a good example of how politics and pop culture can bleed together. I mean, Pepe originally had no political dimension whatsoever. In a forum where you are expressly discussing a particular element of pop culture, there are going to be topics that arguably touch on both sides of that divide. Sometimes political references
are pop culture references.
@PrinceofNothing I didn't object to your comments, despite the fact that they relate directly to my family, because I took them in the spirit intended. And I have seen much less political statements than the incel/twink comments moderated. I think we could benefit from turning down the sensitivity on the politic-o-meter just a bit.
